Thank you to everyone who voted and helped support our local restaurants during our Good Food, Good Decision contest. The restaurant and service industry has been deeply affected by the pandemic. We wanted to give everyone an opportunity to go out and get a meal at their favorite restaurant at half price compliments of Goodman Acker, while at the same time bringing in revenue for the restaurant. Serving the community is important to Goodman Acker and this is just one of the ways that we were able to give back. The restaurant wins, you win, now that’s a good decision. Read More.

The attorneys at Goodman Acker, PC were honored to be lead sponsors for the Groceries for Guns program.
The goal was to to get guns off the streets and away from criminals and children. The concept is simple: anyone who had an unwanted gun could exchange it for a $50 gift card from Meijer; no questions asked. Meijer operates a number of retail and grocery stores in the area. The program was run in conjunction with the Wayne County Sherriff’s Department, who trace the serial numbers to make sure the weapon was not stolen and then handled the disposal of the guns so they would not end up back in the wrong hands.
Last May, over 200 weapons were exchanged at an event hosted by St. Paul Tabernacle Church of God in Christ in Detroit and Bishop P.A. Brooks.
Gun violence is rampant in Detroit. In 2012, there were 333 homicides involving guns and another 1,263 nonfatal shootings – both increases from the year before. Goodman Acker is hopeful our efforts through Groceries for Guns and other initiatives will help reverse this disturbing trend.
Goodman Acker is doing our part to encourage young adults to get out and play. As proud corporate sponsors of ComePlayDetroit (CPD), we help make it possible for dozens of folks to enjoy sports they love throughout Metro Detroit.

Last Veterans Day, Goodman Acker teamed up with Detroit Tough Gym to host a benefit walk/run and collection drive to honor and help reduce the problem of Veterans’ homelessness within our own city. Like many communities around the country, our area has people are homeless. In Detroit alone, thirty-eight percent of those homeless are our military veterans and many of them saying they became homeless for the first time since 2012.
The “Caring For Our Homeless Veterans Benefit” took place from 7 a.m. until 8 p.m. at the Detroit Tough Gym location in Corktown Detroit.
We were proud to announce that the event was a huge success collecting over eight truck loads of clothing, coats, blankets, shoes, business suits, disposable goods and more for its homeless veterans, in addition to over $2,000.00 in monetary funds donated towards the cause. All donations went to the Michigan Veterans Foundation.

Goodman Acker teamed up Lawsuit Financial to adopt two needy families this holiday season through the Michigan Association for Justice 2014 Adopt-A-Family Program. Our firm nominated two of our own clients who were in need through the program, and in exchange given two other families nominated by another law firm who were also in need. Our staff enjoyed shopping and wrapping gifts for the two anonymous families as a group.
Drunk driving is a serious issue. Our lawyers see the outcomes of these accidents every day. In an effort to get awareness out about the dangers of drinking and driving, our law firm sponsored PSA’s for Mother’s Against Drunk Driving (MADD).
