Nicole McCarthy

Nicole McCarthy’s journey into law began in the second grade when she portrayed a lawyer representing “The Bears” in a school play, winning the case against Goldilocks. This initial spark ignited a fervor that would define her path forward. She pursued a degree in political science at Michigan State University, delving into comparative politics and gaining insights into international litigation practices. During her undergraduate years, she interned for a Democratic representative in the Michigan House of Representatives, advocating for environmental conservation efforts.

Taking a brief hiatus between her undergraduate and law school studies, Nicole gained valuable experience in human resources. This role provided her with a unique perspective on the struggles faced by individuals and families affected by personal injuries and systemic challenges, particularly immigrants, individuals in recovery, and women.

At Western Michigan Law School, Nicole excelled in Moot Court and served as the president of the Tax Club. She graduated with a Juris Doctorate and a concentration in Tax and Business law, equipping her with specialized knowledge to assist clients with business losses and contractual disputes arising from negligence or insurance issues. Nicole’s legal career began in personal injury law, a field where she remains dedicated. She also provides litigation support to business clients, drawing on her diverse legal expertise.

Joining Goodman Acker was a natural choice for Nicole, drawn by the firm’s commitment to justice and its esteemed reputation. She finds fulfillment in delivering justice to her clients and witnessing their relief as they regain a sense of wholeness.

Nicole is an active member of various legal associations, including the State Bar of Michigan, Michigan Association for Justice, and the Women Lawyers Association of Michigan. She also contributed to the democratic process as an independent observer for the League of Women Voters during the 2020 presidential election.

Outside of her legal practice, Nicole enjoys spending quality time with her family, exploring Michigan and beyond. She is a devoted fan of the Detroit Pistons and relishes attending games with loved ones. Additionally, Nicole is deeply committed to autism advocacy and supports fundraising efforts for the Autism Alliance of Michigan.
